Math Assignment

My twins had a math assignment to take an item and enlarge it by 10 times. They have to show all their math for everything. We ended up making dice for both of them. Originally Cole wanted to make a domino...the teacher told the class that it would be cool if they all made a domino and they could line them up in the hall and try them out, but we dont have any dominos (and they have to take the original to school to show what they started with). Then Cole wanted to make a giant Q-tip...we thought this would be easy to get PVC pipe and batting...but because the measurements have to be exact, the circumference was an odd size and it was more difficult to do...so we ended up doing dice for both.
Here they are with their dice.

Heres a view of the dice with the small ones we enlarged

Another view

I am glad to be done with this project...I really should write notes on this and the science project they had to make so I can remember what to do when Tyler gets in 7th grade. I think these turned out pretty good though.

Brady got his drivers permit

Its hard to believe, but I have a son who now has a drivers permit. Brady passed his test today and he is so excited. The guy at the DMV told him to race me to the drivers seat so he could drive home. Since the drive home would be on a freeway going 75 miles an hour, I opted out of that option, but let him drive around town when we got home. Congrats Brady. I am excited for you, but cant really believe Im old enough to have a kid who can drive!!

Tylers Cougar Scholar award

They had an awards assembly at Tyler's school and Tyler's teacher gave him an award. His award said: for being one of the most focused students I have had. He always does his best. He is always one of the last students done when it comes to tests. That is why he is always at the top.

I am so proud of Tyler and happy that he does well in school. Congrats Ty!

Bradys new cast

So, I think it has been 6 weeks since Brady broke his arm playing football...and today he got to have a short cast put on. This is the doctor doing some cutting on his old cast to take it off.

I think his arm still looks a little off, tried to get a decent pic of it.

Brady has some nerve damage and cannot straighten his 2 fingers. He needs to work on fixing that or they may have to do a nerve conduction test.

Brady chose a blue cast this time.

Brady is hoping to be done with casts before Christmas. Im hoping all goes well and he is able to have his wish.

Football Injury

Brady got hurt at football practice on Tuesday night. When I showed up to the school, they already had his arm wrapped so I didnt see it. When we went to the hospital he was in so much pain that they decided to do x-rays first and see where we were at. Thats the first time I saw his arm...it was obviously broken. He had surgery on Wednesday to fix it. Poor guy, football season is over. Probably wont be wrestling either. He was also supposed to start drivers ed. on Oct. 5 (the day after his birthday) but they said he will have a cast up to his shoulder and cant do that so we had to cancel.
Here he is at the hospital before surgery.

Brady hadnt seen what his arm looked like, so I asked the doctor to take pictures before he fixed it.

Hes doing fairly well. Some pain, but its alot better since the surgery. Brady has had lots of support from friends and we so appreciate it!
Get feeling better sweetie!

Lagoon

After the tour of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple (see previous post below), we took the kids to Lagoon. We have season passes this year, and it has made it nice to go for just a few hours and then go home. Tyler really wanted to go on Rattlesnake Rapids. Since we have gone on it before, I knew how wet Id be when I got off. I was wearing a white shirt, so I opted not to go this time. We had a fun time.

Tyler was the only one who didnt move when the waterfall came up.

Hopefully I can scrap soon and Ill share some scrappy stuff with you.
Have a great day!

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Openhouse

Last Saturday we took the kids and went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Openhouse. The temple is beautiful inside. The tour was well organized. We watched a 12 minute video presentation in a tent, then we walked through the temple.

At the end of the tour they took us to another tent and had refreshments...the tent was nice, and decorated. The cookies were delicious.
We arrived late due to a traffic accident, but they still let us go through (You need to make a reservation to go through). Its free and anyone can go.
We went to Lagoon afterwards...pictures in next post (above).

End of School days

The last few days of school have been keeping me busy. I went on Tylers fieldtrip. We went to Antelope Island. My camera battery died so I didnt get many pictures on this day. This is some of the 4th graders that were there.

Then we had the 4th grade program. I tried to take pictures of the actual program, but I was too far away. I walked up to get this picture right before the program started.

Then today was Field Day at the Elementary School. I was in charge of the tug-o-war.

Only one and a half days left of school. The kids are excited. I will lose my peace and quiet, but Ill be happy to not have the homework and early mornings anymore :)
Have a great day!

Breakfast Of Champions

Today we got up bright and early and went to the school for the Breakfast of Champions. They served breakfast in the cafeteria and then we went into the gym to listen to a couple of speakers and the kids received their awards.
To go to the breakfast of champions you have to have good grades and/or good life skills (citizenship). You have to be invited to attend, and it is a honor to be able to go. Cole was invited to attend this year for his grades. We are proud of him.
This is Cole with the two speakers, Chris Brower and Shay Hatch.

This was when he was receiving the award.

Our friend, Amelia Jensen, also was invited to attend. This was her receiving her award.

Congratulations Cole and Amelia! Keep up the good work!

Happy Birthday Tyler

Today is Tyler's 10th birthday. Its hard to believe that my youngest is that old. A month or so ago I asked him if he would just stay little and he told me not unless his brothers did too. He has always tried to keep up with his brothers and it seems as though it made him grow up faster. He is such a joy to have around. He is so funny when he teases his dad and gives him crap. Hes got a great sense of humor. He is very loving to me too. I hope he will still like me when he gets into his teen years.
Happy Birthday Tyler! We love you!

This is why you dont play basketball in the house.

Tyler and his brothers have been playing basketball with one of those hoops that fits over the top of a doorway...They brought it down to the kitchen door and Tyler jumped up to shoot the ball and met with the cupboard above him....ouch!!!! Im thinking its not going to be fun to comb his hair in the morning.

Where Ive been lately

Today I noticed that I have over 10,000 hits on my blog...that just amazes me!! So I thought I would update whats been taking all my time lately. I have four boys and they all like to play sports. This year three of them decided to play city league basketball and my oldest decided to wrestle. So now, every night I have a sport for one of them...its keeping me busy. Here are some pics from this past week.

This is Tyler in his last Saturday game. He played so awesome...he made at least 5 baskets and had at least 3 steals. Sometimes I miss some of the action trying to get a picture, but it was a fun game to watch. He was on fire. (hes the one in the blue jersey and he just shot the ball)

I missed half of the twins' game due to it slightly overlapping Tyler's game, plus it was team picture day. Jeff went with the twins to their game. They won and my friend told me they made all the baskets they shot for. This is Cole shooting. (#24)

and here is Carson shooting. (#13) They won their game and it was lots of fun.

Brady decided to wrestle this year and has won all but one match. He actually won this match and I wanted to take a picture when they raised his hand up as the winner, but the ref. messed up and raised the other kids hand and took away my photo moment LOL.. Brady is the one with 10 points on the scoreboard. Brady also plays church basketball, but I dont have any photos of that.

On a scrapbook note, I will be part of two crops over superbowl weekend. There is one at Simply Obsessed. The challenges are going to be so much fun and there will be lots to do. I will also be involved in a crop at Treasures To Scrap. There will be challenges there as well. I believe both sites will have prizes so come check them out. They start Friday January 30 and go through Sunday February 1st!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sledding

The boys had their cousin stay overnight and we wanted to make sure we did something fun while he was here, so we went sledding today. Brady brought his friend Kyle along too. It was super icy and it was hard to walk back up the hill, but they had a fun time. Heres a group picture of them. I took lots of pictures today but none are great. Ill have to take them again and take more pics. Hope you had a great day!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

We had a busy day on Christmas Eve. We always get together with both sides of the family. This year we hosted the Wikstrom side. We eat, then open Christmas Eve socks and PJs. My house is small, so we were kind of cramped, but not cramped enough to stop doing it. This is my boys with their cousins opening their stuff.

After that we went to my moms house. There is always food at her house as well. We play games while we are there. This is me and Tyler playing BINGO. Tyler was playing my card and his hoping to win.

There is a game that Jeff and my niece (Marci) just love and are so competitive at. You have a pair of dice. You roll doubles with the dice, then you have to put on a pair of mittens and get a present out of a bag and unwrap the present with the mittens on, all while the next person is trying to roll doubles. When they get doubles, your turn is over. If you have not completely unwrapped the present, you have to put the gift back in the bag and then pass it on. Also, all the wrapping from opened presents is supposed to go back in the bag as well so that its harder to find a present. We end up having to wait for the smaller kids to at least have the mittens on before the next person starts rolling the dice. Jeff and Marci happened to be sitting next to each other so they were funny.

Once we came home, we took pictures of the kids in their new PJs by the tree and then its off to bed. Yay!

This is Christmas morning. The kids had just opened the Guitar Hero for XBox 360. We didnt own a 360, so they caught on pretty fast and started searching for the XBox. It was a good Christmas.

I hope to have scrappy stuff to update with in the near future.

A fun surprise

The house next door to us was sold a couple of months ago. We were really sad to lose our neighbors. They were awesome and really good to my kids. They let my kids jump on their trampoline whenever they wanted and play in their yard...they were really good neighbors. I was a little worried when they sold their house that we might not have as good of neighbors as they had been. The new neighbors moved in and they are awesome too! Wow, how did I get to be so lucky? I love it when people are kid friendly...especially since my kids can be so social...maybe too social sometimes. They take everything you say to heart. LOL...for instance, they must have asked my new neighbor if they could help put their Christmas lights on their house and they said yes. Well, we came home late one night and the lights were on the house. They happened to open their door as we were getting out of the van so my twins said "Hey, you said we could help you put your lights up!" LOL...not shy like they used to be. Our neighbors told them that they had actually knocked on the door to get the kids, but we werent home.
Anyway, on to the fun surprise. Our neighbors went out of town and asked my boys to feed their dog while they were gone...which they did. So, tonight dh and I were going to run to the store to get some tape so I can wrap gifts (which I still need to do and its almost 2 a.m.!) and when we opened the door this is what we found on our door step.

There was a note on the gift from our neighbors...how sweet are they!? My boys were unwilling to wait for Christmas to open it, cuz thats like a whole day away ROFL...so they ripped it open.

Inside were these nerf guns. They boys were in the process of going to bed, but since they now have a fun toy to play with, they didnt go to sleep. (which is why I still need to wrap). Arent my neighbors awesome? They made my boys' night!

Ok, Im off to wrap and go to bed. Hope youre having a great day!
