Back to School

It's back to school week at House of Paper and here is what I came up with for my assignments.
I made these "pencils" out of rolos and a hershey's kiss...cute huh?

This is my kids' first day of school last year. I used Basic Grey Oxford on this layout.

I found instructions to make this cute little backpack and had to try it. I used Echo Park For the Record papers on it.

I had fun with this weeks assignments!
As always, thanks for stopping by.

Glimmer Mist

Wow, I haven't posted here for a while. I will share a post with you that I posted on the HOP Blog recently.

I decided to try using Glimmer Mist to create my own background paper. This is my finished result. The Bee and "Bee Happy" are free digi stamps from Paper Smooches.

Heres what I did:

First, I drew a bunch of clouds on a piece of paper and then cut them out. I laid the cut outs on a piece of cardstock like this

Then I took my Glimmer Mist and sprayed it all over the cardstock like this

It only took a minute to dry, and then I took the clouds off.

After, I took the cut outs clouds and placed them slightly off center of the white clouds on the paper and traced them so that my finished result looked like this.

I cut up this paper for my background paper and used it on the card you saw above. Fun huh? Glimmer Mist is available at the House of Paper store.

Paper Smooches

I like stamps, and I buy a lot of stamps...but Im not much of a stamper. Kim Hughes started her Paper Smooches company and I was in love. She draws the cutest things and her handwritten fonts are the cutest...so, Im buying more stamps. Ive bought several sets, but since Im not really sure what to do with them, I thought I would start by scraplifting cards Ive seen using sets I have. I totally lifted this entire card from Heidi Van Laar. Cute huh?

Anything Goes

The theme this week for House of Paper is anything goes. I just received this new Echo Park Country Drive paper, so I decided to use it on both of my layouts.
This first layout is about one of my son's best friends. Today would be his 17th birthday. We sure do miss you Devin and think of you often. When Devin passed away it affected a lot of people. Lots of kids were texting to do this or that in honor of Devin. Several kids wore best dress to school to honor him. His closest friends made T-Shirts and wrote their memories with Devin on them. They put his last name and his football number on the back. He was such a good kid and is greatly missed.

This next layout is my youngest son and some of his friends at the World's Fair at his school. I wish I could have made it around to get more pictures, but its so packed in the school on this night. Each 6th grader chooses a country to learn about and they work on it for over 4 months, then they put on this big World's Fair and tell everyone about what they learned. It is a big production and a lot of work.

Father's Day Gift idea

I've been looking for Father's Day gift ideas. I've seen other boxes similar to this on Split Coast Stampers, and I decided that I could figure it out and make one myself. This would hold a tie, or other small gift. I'm going to fill it with candy. I am pleased with how it turned out! What do you think?

Scrapbook Stuff

So here are a few of the things I have been working on recently
I found the pattern for these watering cans and thought they would make cute gifts.

This is my oldest son when he played on the High School baseball team

This is one of my twins. He was chosen as an All-Star for his basketball team.

I have made some other things, they are uploaded in my gallery at House of Paper if you want to see what else I have been up to.
