Christmas Tree Lot (Money Gift)

I made this cute tree lot to give my dad for Christmas. I bought my supplies at Hobby Lobby. I had seen an idea like this on Pinterest, but there were no instructions on how to do it.
I got a box from a grocery store and cut my foam to fit it. I googled how to fold a tree out of money and found a tutorial on YouTube. I wasnt sure how to get them in the lot so I used a razor knife and cut lines and pushed the trees into them. That worked for the most part. I took skewers and cut them to the height I wanted to string the lights from. I alternated lights and sequins. I loved how it turned out. It took me a long time to put it together but I was in love. I made it a couple of weeks before Christmas and I noticed the trees started to all lean forward. I am not sure how to fix that but I might try taping them on the back to hold the folds closed. That might help? Not sure
Thanks for visiting!

Crochet Reindeer

I made this crochet reindeer. I think he turned out pretty cute.

I got the pattern out of this book that I purchased on Amazon

I realized that my stitches were not as tight (I can kind of see the stuffing through the sweater and head) so I made another one and did my stitches tighter.

It is a little bit smaller. Each reindeer has its own personality. I used thicker yarn (for both) than the pattern calls for and a bigger crochet hook. (I used a F crochet hook and wool weight yarn). He is all single crochet with increase and decrease stitches. Not too hard. The front of the book shows you how to do these stitches as well as a magic ring, which you use to start every part of him. The finishing instructions are minimal so it was trial and error for me since I've never made amigurumi before.

You can get the pattern for just the reindeer without purchasing the book here.
This is what the original reindeer looks like. I changed the colors for mine.
Let me know what you think!

6x6 tiles

I thought I had already uploaded these. I made some 6x6 tiles like my 4x4 coasters, but I put the 6x6 tiles in a stand to display them. This is what I came up with for these.
The snowman pattern is from the "I Believe" book by Art to Heart. It's a quilt book. I used Echo Park papers on this.

This Santa pattern came from the same book. I used Basic Grey papers on this one.

and this one came from the book as well. I used Basic Grey papers for this one.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

More tile coaster designs

Here are the other designs I made for the tile coasters.
I love this little penguin. He was made from a pattern by Kaylas Kreations. I dont know where you can find these patterns anymore...she has taken her site down.

This reindeer is one I saw in an idea book a couple of years ago. I think they used a coaster from a restaurant to make the head...I just paper pieced it.

I dont remember where I found this pattern, but they are cute huh?

Hope you like my ideas. Leave me a comment so I know you stopped by :)

Christmas Coasters

I dont know if you remember the tile coasters I made back in March, but I decided to make some Christmas sets. Here is one of the sets I have made (there's more I'll show you later).

I used Basic Grey papers on it. I pieced one and copied them like I did before so it would be quicker and less bulky. I hope the people receiving these will enjoy them.
I'll share the rest with you later.
Happy Holidays!

Christmas candy boxes

This is what I have been doing all day. I am having fun making these cute candy boxes. This is what my kids will be giving as friend gifts this year. There is candy inside.
These are the same pattern as the Halloween candy box I made earlier. I used Bazzill cardstock and My Minds Eye paper. I love that the paper is glittery.

Christmas Card

Heres another quick card I made for Rocky Mountain Hobbies. I used the Polar Expressions paper and Ribbon by Imaginisce. The edge is a border punch by Fiskars called Apron lace.

Christmas Scrappy Stuff

Here are some more things I made for Rocky Mountain Hobbies. All of these were made with the Polar Expressions paper by Imaginisce. I love that the paper is double sided and it is glittery.
I made this box using a template (there are 2 parts, the lid and the bottom). I cut an opening in the lid and put transparency in its place. The lettering is doodlebug alphabet stickers. I cut the tags out with my tags, bags, and boxes cricut cartridge. You could give this as a gift with a note attached that says:
Heres a box of tags for you,
for all the wrapping you have to do.
Attach to gifts for any reason,
To show your love this Christmas season.

I thought this would be a cute little friend gift for my kids to give. I made a pocket card. I used a hot chocolate stamp for the front (these are only $1)

then on the inside I used the mittens stamp and cut them out. I tied hemp around the hot chocolate packet and attached the mittens to the ends. The sentiment was cut out of the paper.

This is a card I made...I just punched the circles out of the paper and cut a sentiment out...really easy.

Thanks for stopping by. Leave me a comment if you drop by...not sure anyone is visiting anymore LOL.

Christmas in July

Recently I was asked to be part of the Design Team for Rocky Mountain Hobbies. I was very excited and honored to be asked. I have been a member of the community there for 4 years, and have shopped in the store longer than that. Cindy always has current products and great customer service.
RMH is doing some Christmas challenges to get help you get your stuff done early. They asked me to make a banner that could be hung on a mantel. This could also be hung across a window or entertainment center...or anywhere else you might have. I got out some old tole painting books for the paper piecing patterns. I hope youll come over to RMH and join in the challenges!

Since I had a hard time getting a good picture, I scanned the stockings to show them off better.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

We had a busy day on Christmas Eve. We always get together with both sides of the family. This year we hosted the Wikstrom side. We eat, then open Christmas Eve socks and PJs. My house is small, so we were kind of cramped, but not cramped enough to stop doing it. This is my boys with their cousins opening their stuff.

After that we went to my moms house. There is always food at her house as well. We play games while we are there. This is me and Tyler playing BINGO. Tyler was playing my card and his hoping to win.

There is a game that Jeff and my niece (Marci) just love and are so competitive at. You have a pair of dice. You roll doubles with the dice, then you have to put on a pair of mittens and get a present out of a bag and unwrap the present with the mittens on, all while the next person is trying to roll doubles. When they get doubles, your turn is over. If you have not completely unwrapped the present, you have to put the gift back in the bag and then pass it on. Also, all the wrapping from opened presents is supposed to go back in the bag as well so that its harder to find a present. We end up having to wait for the smaller kids to at least have the mittens on before the next person starts rolling the dice. Jeff and Marci happened to be sitting next to each other so they were funny.

Once we came home, we took pictures of the kids in their new PJs by the tree and then its off to bed. Yay!

This is Christmas morning. The kids had just opened the Guitar Hero for XBox 360. We didnt own a 360, so they caught on pretty fast and started searching for the XBox. It was a good Christmas.

I hope to have scrappy stuff to update with in the near future.

Christmas Cards

I made some quick cards last night. I still have a few things to hand out today and I wanted to have a card to go with them. These were quick and easy. I posted the Monday Mojo challenge at Simply Obsessed yesterday and this fits into my challenge. I showed other examples in my thread there. I now have all my neighbor/etc gifts done...Yay! Are you all done and ready for Christmas?

A Few of my Favorite Things

I have bought this nativity in pieces and just added to it yesterday. I think the only thing I dont have now it this girl/angel? that is holding a lamb...but I dont know where she would go so Im not sure I will get her.

I used to make a lot of wood stuff. I made this santa a few years ago.

This is a cloth Santa I made a few years ago too.

Here is another wood santa I made. This one is my husbands favorite.

Here are my Christmas trees. Since our living room is so small, we use 3 alpine trees. Not the best picture.

Link me up and show me your decorations. I would love to see them.
I should have scrappy stuff to share soon.

Christmas

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We did at our house. My boys seem very happy with what they received. My 3 youngest boys got football shoulder pads, football pants, and a practice jersey. They havent taken them off for very long since Christimas day. Ive washed the pants and they went right back on. Im glad that they are so happy. They got other things too, but that seems to be their favorite. My oldest son, who recently became a teenager, got clothes. He wanted all these name brand clothes and he got them. He also seemed very happy. So it was a great day. Here is a picture of my boys in their new pjs on Christmas Eve.

Cant forget the milk and cookies for Santa!

I have been creating for my next DT upload. Since our scheduled day was New Years Day, I believe it has been changed. It will either be Jan. 8 or Jan 15. I will upload here once we post at HSS! As always, thanks for stopping by my blog! Leave me a comment and I will visit you too! Have a great day!
